A TYPICAL TUSCAN SUNDAY LUNCH

Sunday lunch was a special occasion, and the menu was typically meat-based, with lasagna being a popular dish. It’s a hearty and comforting meal, perfect for any occasion. So we would like to recreate this special atmosphere with you!

The charming setting of Rita’s farm in Tuscany
The best setting for our cooking classes focusing on traditional foods is an original Tuscan farmhouse. We bring you to Rita’s farm in the countryside just outside of Montefoscoli, between Pisa and Volterra, and we start our class with a quick historical framework to let you understand much about the origins of our cuisine. You’ll join a local chef and one of our storytellers to prepare the best lasagna you’ve ever tasted, from scratch. You’ll learn how to make fresh pasta and a traditional Tuscan meat sauce, the perfect filling for your lasagna along with a delicious besciamella.

The extra virgin olive oil mini-seminar
While waiting for the lasagna to cook, your guide will introduce you to the world of extra virgin olive oil. You will start with a walk inside of the Rita’s olive grove in order to learn all the secrets to produce the best extra virgin olive oil. The guide will explain you the techniques of olive collection, the varieties of trees available in Tuscany and the distinctive mindset of the local olive farmers. After you will seat at the table and you will be invited to join a guided olive oil blind test. You will compare a tradition olive oil for Tuscany versus a commercial one that you easily find in any supermarket. Finally you will taste the delicious Rita’s extra virgin olive oil.

Dinner or lunch with guided wine tasting
At the end of the cooking class, you will sit at the table and finally enjoy the delicious lasagna prepared during the class together with a mixed salad and a dessert. Lunch will be paired with a guided wine tasting of 3 wines from the “Terre di Pisa” area. If the weather is good, you could enjoy your meal on the outdoor veranda with a breathtaking view over the Pisan hills. Come and join us for a unique experience!
